All we like sheep?
It’s amazing just how a farmer or shepherd can walk into a field where there are no sheep in sight, and call for them and they respond by appearing from all four corners of the field. I can go into that same field, call for them in the same way, but nothing happens. The reason being that sheep know their shepherd’s voice and know that there is a reward in responding. They hear and they respond to the one they know and trust. God calls to us, how do we respond? Are we distracted by the call of something or someone else, especially in the busy lives we all lead whatever our occupation?
The phrase “all we like sheep” is often used to say negative things about how we make decisions and act in our lives when we follow others without thinking. Perhaps, though, we ought to see it as a more positive action of following God?
